The M&M’S store in Times Square opens its doors to gourmets young and old. It is on an area of 2,320 square meters that tourists discover the world of M&M’S. We recommend this little detour located in the heart of the “Big Apple”.
What are M&M’S?
The creation of these candies dates back to the Spanish Civil War in 1930. Mr. Forrest Mars, Sr. discovered that the soldiers ate small chocolate candies coated with sugar to prevent them from melting. This gave him an idea. After obtaining the patent for the invention, Mr. Mars began producing his famous candies in New Jersey. M&M’S enter the market. The company was originally named M&M’s Limited. The two “M”s refer to the name of Mr. Mars and that of Bruce Murrie, owner of Hershey’s Company. For what ? Because the chocolate used is that of Hershey’s Chocolate.
In 1954, peanut butter M&M’S were introduced. At the time, the balls were coated in brown chocolate. With a well-found slogan, “Melts in your mouth, not in your hand ” translated as “melts in the mouth, not in the hand”, M&M’S have become very popular. The company then began producing red, yellow and green marbles. Today, these candies come in several other colors and flavors.
A store with lots of choice
Inaugurated in 2006, the M&M’S store in New York occupies an area of approximately 2,320 square meters. The store is spread over three floors with a very wide range of products. At the entrance, a gigantic statue of a blue M&M’S character will immerse you in the grandiose atmosphere of the brand and also shows the power of these little candies. Scatter between cups, key rings, cushions, clothes and especially candy. The products are arranged by color, a rather successful aesthetic question.
