The big names held their place last night, starting with the outgoing champions of Denver, still undefeated in the West after their success against Utah. Ditto for the C’s in the East. Victory also for Dallas, Milwaukee or the Lakers.
The defending champion Denver and his Serbian pivot Nikola Jokic, author of the 107th triple double of his career, continued their perfect start to the NBA season on Monday evening, recording a fourth victory in four matches against the Utah Jazz (110-102 ). Thanks to his second triple double of the season (27 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists), Jokic is now tied with LeBron James and Jason Kidd for fourth place among players having achieved the most in NBA history.
Another still undefeated team led by a European, the Dallas Mavericks recorded a third victory by winning 125-110 in Memphis, behind their Slovenian leader Luka Doncic who also saw triples (35 points, 12 rebounds, 12 assists) and started the season with a bang (39 points on average in three games). The Grizzlies are also part of the last two teams without a victory with Houston. Stephen Curry, for his part, recorded his second game with more than 40 points, bringing his Warriors to a third victory in four matches in New Orleans (130-102), with 42 points (15/22 on shots, including 7/ 13 three-pointers).
Boston OK, Milwaukee plays to scare each other
In the Eastern Conference, Boston maintained its invincibility thanks to its duo Jaylen Brown (36 points)-Jayson Tatum (33 points), and won 126-107 in Washington. The Bucks of Giannis Antetokounmpo (33 points) and Damian Lillard (25 points) dismissed Miami at home 122-114, despite the 35 points signed by Tyler Herro for the Heat. A match in which Milwaukee led by 25 points before having a scare, the visitors falling to -6 with 1’22 to play (115-109). Antetokounmpo ended the suspense with a three-point action six seconds later.
Also note, the difficult victory of the Lakers of Anthony Davis (26 points, 19 rebounds) and LeBron James (19 points) 106-103 in their room against the Orlando Magic, thanks in particular to a great end to the match from their leader D’Angelo Russell (28 points, including 12 in the last quarter). Despite the double-double of Rudy Gobert (14 points and 13 rebounds) and the 31 points of Anthony Edwards, the Timberwolves suffered the law of the Hawks (127-113) of Dejounte Murray (41 points). Portland, Brooklyn, Chicago and Oklahoma City are the other winners of the day within the Association.
