REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, GAZA — Israeli tanks continued to advance towards the outskirts of Gaza City on Monday (30/10/2023). Dozens of tanks entered the Zaytun district south of the Palestinian territory’s main city, cutting off the main road from north to south of the Gaza Strip for more than an hour, witnesses told journalists AFP in southern Gaza by telephone.
“They cut off Salahedin Road and shot at any vehicle that tried to pass through,” said a resident who did not want to be named.
Israeli jets bombed part of the road, leaving a large crater, another resident said. Video recording obtained AFP shows a tank blowing up a car on the road.
The tanks held out for more than an hour and cars soon returned to the highway, driving to the side of the road where a crater had made the road unusable, residents said.
