Fireworks prohibited for Halloween throughout the Loire-Atlantique department.
The night of October 31, linked to Halloween festivities, repeatedly gives rise to excesses. Damage can disturb public order and jeopardize the safety of property and people.
Considering the framework of vigilance in the current context of high level of terrorist threat, the prefect of Loire-Atlantique has issued a prefectural decree prohibiting the purchase, retail sale, removal or transport of any fuel by jerrycans , cubitainers, cans, flasks or various containers as well as the carrying, transport and use of fireworks, in the department.

The prefectural decree says in substance:
« Considering the regular use of mortar, pyrotechnic devices and incendiary devices such as Molotov cocktails in recent months against the police and the departmental fire and rescue service in the territory and that these multiple attacks on the physical integrity of the fire brigade are likely to seriously disrupt public order and tranquility during gatherings and that misuse of certain fireworks has been noted every year, the occasion of the Halloween party in the Loire-Atlantique department. In addition, the high level and prevalence of the terrorist threat which has mobilized as part of the Vigipirate plan since October 13, 2023. The entire national territory is at the Emergency Attack level. »
Products specifically intended for powering individual heating appliances are authorized. As well as fireworks and pyrotechnic articles for professional purposes.
