Remembering Károly Hauszler: Olympic Water Polo Player and Coach

Károly Hauszler, who died at the age of 71, started as a swimmer, but soon switched to water polo.

Hauszler was a swimmer at the Central Sports School in 1964, Tamás Széchy became his student, and a year later he was playing polo. From 1970, he was a player for Budapesti Honvéd, then from 1978 to 1988 for Tatabányai Bányász.

He played in the national team between 1974 and 1981, was the European youth champion in 1971 and the World Cup winner in 1979. As a coach, he managed the Tatabánya team from 1988, from 2000 he worked as a coach for VSC Esztergom, and from 2013, Új-Hullám SE from Dorog.
