Stellantis, Ford, and GM Reach Agreement with Union: Wage Increase and Strike Costs Revealed

The American-European automaker Stellantis and the American Ford previously reached an agreement with the union. The deal with GM is largely in line with the agreement reached by the two competitors. For example, a 25 percent wage increase has been agreed. GM’s union members must still approve the deal.

Last week, both GM and Ford withdrew their profit forecasts as a result of the strikes. According to Ford, the work stoppages have cost the company $1.3 billion (more than €1.2 billion). GM said strike costs had reached $800 million (753 million euros). According to the group, these costs would amount to at least 200 million dollars (188 million euros) per week.

President Joe Biden, who supported the union’s demands, previously said he is satisfied with the agreement at Stellantis. He then spoke of a “historic agreement”.
