Green Bay – The list of injured NFL quarterbacks has become significantly longer. Less than halfway through the season, a quarter of teams have already been forced to make changes in the most important position.
Kirk Cousins of the Minnesota Vikings suffered the worst, with his team suspecting a more serious injury to his Achilles tendon. Cousins had to leave the field in the final quarter of the 24:10 loss to the Green Bay Packers. If the fears are confirmed, his season will be over and with it the Vikings’ playoff hopes. The 35-year-old has never missed a game with an injury in his twelve years in the National Football League.
Also new to the injured list are Matthew Stafford of the Los Angeles Rams, Kenny Pickett of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Tyrod Taylor of the New York Giants. Anthony Richardson from the Indianapolis Colts, Deshaun Watson from the Cleveland Browns, Ryan Tannehill from the Tennessee Titans and, since the first day of the game, Aaron Rodgers have already been injured in the past few weeks. The star tore his Achilles tendon in his first game for the New York Jets.
Newbie uses the stage
Stafford injured his right thumb in the 20:43 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Pickett and Taylor both had to leave the field with rib injuries. The Steelers lost 10:20 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Giants lost 10:13 after overtime against the New York Jets. Taylor is also only a substitute; Giants quarterback Daniel Jones has now missed three games with an injury.
NFL rookie Will Levis took advantage of the big stage to replace Tannehill and threw four touchdown passes in the Titans’ 28:23 win against the Atlanta Falcons.
