And since it became her favorite accessory again during ‘The Eras Tour’, Swiftie and beyond have been diligently applying the red stuff. We found Taylor’s favorite shade and discovered the secret that makes her walk around with those perfectly made-up lips for hours.
That red lipstick is Taylor Swift’s favorite accessory? That has been engraved in the beauty world for years. With perfect red lips, the pop icon sings her hits one after the other for about three hours in ‘The Eras Tour’. In her songs ‘Style’, ‘Wildest Dreams’ and ‘Blank Space’ she drops her favorite shade. In the stands of her new beau, football player Travis Kelce, you can easily pick out her (red lips). And recently you even spotted Travis with a hint of red in his whiskers after he got out of a taxi with Miss Swift. Red lipstick always reveals the truth.

Which lipstick is Taylor’s favorite these days? That’s the Pat McGrath Labs LiquiLUST Legendary Wear Matte Lipstick in the shade ‘Elson 4’. She also wore the same color in her music video ‘Bejeweled’ and on the red carpet of the VMAs in 2022.
It is not surprising that Taylor swears by this lipstick. It retains its smooth, soft and matte finish for more than 12 hours (!), without becoming dry or crunchy. The secret behind this success formula is a kind of stretching effect. This makes the lipstick feel velvety soft and comfortable, allowing Miss Swift to sing with it effortlessly for 3 hours. “It manifests itself like a second skin,” they even write on Pat McGrath’s website.

The bad news about this eye-catching shade? It is sold out everywhere. But do not be sad. Taylor has more red lipsticks in her beauty case. At the prestigious MET Gala in 2014, she wore Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in the shade Dragon Girl. In 2015 she had a different favorite, she said in People. “I recently discovered Ruby Woo from MAC. Everyone has been seeing lipstick as a basic product for some time now. I was, I think, the last person on earth to know him.”
The secret to the perfect red lips. “Sometimes your lips do get dry”
Taylor has been swearing by her red lips for years, and has since figured out how not to take out her stick every time. ‘I put on my lipstick and then place a tissue between my lips and dab. To keep the color as long as possible, I hold a tissue to my mouth and put a little translucent powder over it,” she told the (aptly named) magazine RedBook.
Our beauty editor Sophie Vereycken understands Taylors’ tactics. “Wiping it off on a tissue always helps to keep your lipstick beautiful for as long as possible. A trick I also use is to apply a second layer after chipping.”
Be prepared to do some scrubbing at night to get the red cast off

“If you want to maintain the shine of your lipstick, stay away from that second coat. If you want a more matte look, you can wipe it off again with a tissue. Then, like Taylor, you apply a layer of transparent powder over it. Then you gently dab it again.”
Although there is a small catch. “That tactic can make your lips dry,” says Sophie. “You can then spread a layer of Vaseline or Labello over it. And be prepared to do quite a bit of scrubbing at night to get the red cast off. The tactic works the lipstick into the lips more than the substance is on it. Use a cotton ball or possibly some oil cleanser to remove your lipstick. No toothbrush.”
