According to a report by foreign media Windows Central, players have reported that they are unable to use uncertified third-party devices. In the past, Microsoft provided an official licensing program called “Designed for Xbox” for Xbox, which included many peripherals. Manufacturers have released products with this authorization for Xbox, such as game controllers or headsets, but there are still some products on the market that claim to support Xbox but are not officially authorized.
Recently, when players connect these uncertified peripherals to Xbox, error messages will appear, and the system will prompt “The connected device is not certified” and “Using uncertified peripherals may harm your gaming experience.” Related words, once a certain date is reached, these devices will no longer be usable. Microsoft says that uncertified peripheral devices can be used for 2 weeks after being connected, and will be disabled after 2 weeks.
Not only Microsoft, but SIE and Nintendo also have similar officially authorized peripheral programs to ensure the compatibility of peripheral devices with game consoles. Microsoft’s initiative to exclude uncertified peripheral devices this time is rare in the industry.
Windows Central speculates that Microsoft may want to loosen restrictions on Xbox wireless controller products for peripheral manufacturers, making it easier to develop. Most Xbox controllers currently on the market are wired, and this is the first officially authorized wireless controller. PowerA MOGA XP-Ultra” was only launched this year.
