Brazil Claims Seventh Consecutive Gold in Women’s Handball at Pan American Games

The Brazilian women’s handball team won, this Sunday, the gold medal at the Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile. 30-18 victory against Argentina. This is the tournament’s seventh consecutive title. Highlights include Fran and Adriana, top scorers in the match with seven goals scored each. With the result, the team secured a place in the Paris 2024 Olympics.

This will be the seventh Brazilian participation in the history of the Olympics. Since 2000, the team has been present at every edition of the Games. In 2012 and 2016, the girls had their best performance in history, when they reached the quarterfinals. Brazil ends its campaign with 100% success. The team came through with three wins in the group stage. They debuted by beating Paraguay 27-15. They then beat Uruguay 28-9 and Cuba 49-11. In the semifinals, they beat Chile 30-10.

This Monday begins the journey of the men’s handball team for a place in the Paris 2024 Olympics – only the champion is guaranteed. The Brazilians will debut against Mexico, starting at 5:30 pm. The Dominican Republic and Chile are also part of the group.
