Riyadh: The 10th football tournament has started under the leadership of Keli Arts and Culture Center. Khaled Alhalar, Secretary General of the Amateur Football League under the Saudi Ministry of Sports, inaugurated the tournament, which started at the Sulai Almutawa Park ground in Riyadh. In the opening ceremony, which started with a march past where children, teams and volunteers were lined up, Central Patron Acting Secretary Geevarghese took the salute.
Shamir Kunnummal, chairman of the organizing committee presided. Geevarghese Idichidi, Secretary Suresh Kannapuram, President Zebin Iqbal, Kudumbavedi Secretary Seeba Koovod, OICC Secretary Abdullah Vallanchira, New Age India Secretary Vinod, Referee Ali Alkhahtani, Kudu Regional Director Imad Salim Muhammad, Regional Manager Rohan Tellis, Area Manager Pavithran, Western Union Diaspora Manager Rodel Dal Mundo, Event Organizer Liaquat Ali, Friendly Segment Manager Luqman Syed, T.V.S. Salam, Prasad Vanchipura, Latif Koolimad, Bashir Bashi, Farhan and Nasser Moochikal spoke. Convenor Naseer Mullurkara welcomed and organized committee treasurer Kahim Chelari gave vote of thanks.
Future Mobility Youth India FC and Roma Cass Le Blasters FC Vazhakad contested the opening match in Group A. Roma Cass Le Blasters FC Vazhakad took the lead in the first half thanks to two goals scored by number 20 Zafaruddin in the ninth and 18th minutes of the game. No.10 Fazil Youth India FC pulled a goal back in the extra time of the second half.
In the first half, a penalty was awarded in favor of Youth India but the team failed to capitalize on the opportunity. Blasters FC Vazhakad won the match 2-1 and became the first champions of the group with three points. The referee panel led by Ali Al Qahtani of the Saudi referee panel controlled the game. The Safamaka medical team provided medical assistance. The second week of the tournament will see two matches from two groups. In the first match Sulai FC will face Rainbow FC from Group A and Issa Group Azizia Soccer from Group B will face Benchmark Technology Royal Focus Line FC in the second match.
