Salamanca, Gto. – Laura Delgado Zavala and Ramón Ramírez López, obtained first and second place in the ‘Cerería’ category in the XLVIII Edition of the National Popular Art Grand Prize Contest of the National Fund for the Promotion of Crafts (FONART), with the works ‘ Our Lady of Carmen’ and ‘Offering of the Corpus Christi Festivities’.
Ramón Ramírez López has maintained the tradition and popularity of the scaled ser for more than 100 years. He belongs to the fifth generation of Salamanca artisans who have been dedicated to working with this material since 1874. His work has become popular especially in the festival of Corpus Christi, a religious celebration with four centuries of history.
