Already on Sunday 29 October, the Christmas decorations were going up in the center of Lillehammer. The reason is the upcoming film premiere of “The first Christmas in Skomakergata”
The film, which has been partly recorded at Maihaugen, premieres next Friday, writes Gudbrandsdølen Dagningen.
– We have to hang up on a Sunday, and then it had to be this weekend, because of the premiere. The Christmas tree lighting will take place on 16 November, the Christmas tree forest will go up on 1 December, as usual, but the skylight at Sigrid Undset’s plass will go up a little early due to logistics. There are always some who think it’s too early, but that’s the way it is, says general manager Henning Owren of Lillehammer Sentrum Drift.
The plot of the film unfolds on the first Christmas after the Second World War. Nine-year-old Stine arrives alone on the train to Skomakergata, and seeks shelter with the shoemaker Petrus – who is an old curmudgeon who just wants to be alone.
