Sports editorial, Oct 29 (EFE).- Shanghai Port, led by Spaniard Javi Pereira, has been proclaimed champion of the Chinese soccer league for the second time in its history by drawing in the penultimate matchday against its pursuer, Shandong Taishan.
In a match with five sent off, including Pereira himself, played at the Shanghai Stadium in front of just over 20,000 spectators, the Badajoz coach’s team achieved the point they needed, since with one match remaining they lead their rival by five.
Lu Wenjun put Shanghai Port ahead in the 16th minute. Before the break, the scorer, Cai Huikang and Pereira, and Brazilian Moisés Moisés were sent off for the visiting side. His teammate Fernandinho saw another red card with a quarter of an hour left and Xie Wenneng sealed the final draw (1-1) that crowned the locals, who celebrated their second title after the one obtained in 2018.
Javi Pereira replaces also Spaniard Pedro Morilla in the list of champion coaches in China, who won the last league with the Wuhan Three Towns. EFE
