The FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile) has announced the starting grid for the 2023 F1 Round 20 Mexican Grand Prix (Mexico City GP). Before the race, Lance Stroll (Aston Martin) changed his machine due to parc fermé conditions and was forced to start in the pit lane. The grid for drivers starting from 17th on the grid has been changed.
Yuki Tsunoda (Scuderia AlphaTauri) was placed last due to a “back-of-the-grid” penalty for installing power unit elements/gearbox parts that exceeded the usage limit, but Logan Sgt. (Williams) was given a 10 grid demotion penalty and started from 18th on the grid. Sargent was given a 10-place grid penalty for overtaking Hiroki Tsunoda under the yellow flag in Q1 qualifying, and will start from 19th on the grid. Charles Leclerc is in pole position. Carlos Sainz was second on the grid, making Scuderia Ferrari the star of the season as they dominated the front row for the first time. Max Verstappen (Red Bull Racing) will be third on the grid, and Daniel Ricciardo (Scuderia AlphaTauri) will be fourth. The formation lap of the 2023 F1 Mexico Grand Prix will take place from 5:00 a.m. on Monday, October 30th, Japan time. 2023 F1 Mexico GP Final Starting Grid GRIDNo Driver Team Qualifying 116 Charles Leclerc Ferrari 1 (-) 255 Carlos Sainz Ferrari 2 (-) 31 Max Verstappen Red Bull 3 (-) 43 Daniel Ricciardo AlphaTauri 4 (-) 511 Sergio Perez Red Bull 5 (-) 644 Lewis Hamilton Mercedes 6 (-) 781 Oscar Piastri McLaren 7 (-) 863 George Russell Mercedes 8 (-) 977 Valtteri Bottas Alfa Romeo 9 (-) 1024 laps won Alfa Romeo 10 (-) 1110 Pierre Gasly Alpine 11 (-) 1227 Nico Hulkenberg Haas 12 (-) 1314 Fernando Alonso Aston Martin 13 (-) 1423 Alexander Albon Williams 14 (-) 1531 Esteban Ocon Alpine 16 ( ↑1) 1620 Kevin Magnussen Haas 17 (↑1) 174 Lando Norris McLaren 19 (↑2) 1822 Yuki Tsunoda AlphaTauri 15 (↓3) 192 Logan Sargent Williams 20 (↓1) PIT18 Lance Stroll Aston Martin 18
