Fans and colleagues from the film and TV world are shocked by the death of Matthew Perry. He was found dead in the jacuzzi at his home in Los Angeles by an assistant the morning after exercising. The Friendsactor was 54 years old.
The other main characters from the series have not yet responded to the news. Nothing has been posted on any of their social media accounts since the news broke. Supporting and guest actors from the series do share their condolences and memories.

Actress Selma Blair, who guest-starred as Chandler’s girlfriend, says everyone loved Perry. “I loved him unconditionally. And he loved me. I’m broken. My heart is broken. Sleep tight, Matty.”
Morgan Fairchild also looks back wistfully on her role as Chandler’s mother in the sitcom. She praises him as a brilliant young actor and offers her condolences to his family, “especially his father, John Bennett Perry, with whom I played in Flamingo Road in Falcon Crest”.
Who’s the Boss
In addition to such usual Hollywood responses, Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau also shares a memory of Perry. He met the actor in his youth, when the American Perry lived for a while in his mother’s native country. She was the spokesperson for Trudeau’s father Pierre when he was Canadian prime minister.
“I will never forget how we played games in the schoolyard. The world will never forget the joy he brought,” Trudeau wrote on X. “Thank you for every laugh, Matthew. You were loved and will be missed.”
Sitcom-actress Alyssa Milano shares on Instagram a scene she did with Perry in her series Who’s the Boss, in which he briefly played her roommate. “Matt was always the funniest person everywhere. And the sweetest.” She says she laughed so hard at him that it hurt.
Paget Brewster also thinks back to their time together with a smile. She played Joey’s girlfriend in a few episodes, with whom Chandler falls hopelessly in love. “He won’t rest in peace: he’ll be too busy making everyone up there laugh right now.”
Zender NBC, the Friends broadcast, writes in a confirmation of the death that Perry died much too young. “He has brought joy to hundreds of millions of people with his sharp irony and perfect comic timing.”
