Teachers seem determined to continue their mobilization against the new status of National Education civil servants, adopted by the government and already published in the Official Bulletin. The three-day strike, from October 24 to 26, was followed by 90% of teachers according to the unions (only 30% according to the supervisory ministry’s count). A new strike is planned for Tuesday November 7 and Wednesday November 8, punctuated by a march in Rabat, from the seat of Parliament to the Ministry of National Education.
Faced with this situation, the head of government wants to calm the situation with the unions. A busy day awaits Aziz Akhannouch this Monday, October 30, who will receive representatives of the most representative unions of National Education civil servants.

While the unions denounce the attitude “unilateral» of the minister who would not have presented them with the latest version of the new status before its approval by the Government Council, Minister Benmoussa, for his part, affirms that this file was the subject of a long process of dialogue, around thirty meetings lasting more than 18 months.
But the main reason for the strike is the demand for an increase in wages. During his recent media outings, Chakib Benmoussa defends himself by specifying that the salary aspect was not raised in the agreement of April 14, 2023 signed with the unions, which agreement had set the guiding principles governing discussions around the new unified status of national education officials.
