Go Ahead Eagles failed to consolidate fifth place in the Eredivisie on Saturday evening. When visiting Almere City FC, neither team scored: 0-0. Go Ahead is still fifth, with fifteen points, but will most likely see number six Sparta Rotterdam level later on Saturday evening. Almere, which remained undefeated for the fourth game in a row, is now fourteenth.
Almere started the game with one different player than last weekend, against NEC (1-1): Théo Barbet was missing from the center of the defense and was replaced by Joey Jacobs. There was also one change in the starting eleven at Go Ahead, as Gerrit Nauber started on the bench and Jamal Amofa started in his place in defense.
In the mediocre first half, Almere became threatening for the first time. After a free kick, the ball ended up in the goalmouth at the feet of Jacobs, but his effort was cleared before the line by Evert Linthorst. Then it took a long time before the next opportunity presented itself.
