Symptoms of hepatitis A

The incubation period for viral hepatitis A usually lasts 14-28 days.

The most common symptoms include: weakness and fatigue; increased body temperature; loss of appetite; diarrhea; vomit; discomfort in the stomach; heaviness in the right hypochondrium; darkening of urine; jaundice.

After suffering from HAV infection, lifelong immunity is formed.

Prevention of hepatitis A

Hepatitis A infection can be easily prevented by practicing good hand hygiene. The most effective way to protect yourself is to wash your hands with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds. This is especially important before preparing food and after using the toilet.

So simple daily rules will help you protect yourself from the disease:

washing hands before eating and after each visit to the toilet; drinking only boiled water; washing vegetables and fruits.

A safe and effective vaccine is also available to prevent HAV infection. It is recommended, that is, not included in the National Vaccination Calendar. You can buy it in pharmacies.

It is important to get vaccinated against hepatitis A for adults who work in food service, food processing plants, water treatment and sewerage facilities.

Hepatitis A outbreak in Vinnitsa

This week in one of the districts of Vinnitsa There was an outbreak of hepatitis A. As of yesterday, more than hundreds of confirmed cases were known.

So far, the reasons that can be associated with cases of the disease – attending mass events or eating the same products – have not been established. However, according to the ministry, it is known that all patients live in different microdistricts of Vinnitsa and localities in the region.
