Last September, the Cégep de Lanaudière hosted Valérie Dufour, responsible for international mobility at the Institute of Social Work (ITS) Tours, in France. His visit to Lanaudière aimed to develop new partnership projects between the two educational institutions.

For several years now, the two institutions have collaborated on international mobility projects. It is therefore in the continuity of this relationship that Ms. Dufour was first welcomed by Chantale Bernier, coordinator of the Specialized Education Techniques (TES) program and intercultural facilitator at Cégep à Joliette. On site, she had the chance to participate in various educational activities, including a pre-departure training workshop on the theme of intercultural communication offered to TES students who are doing an intercultural internship in Quebec or internationally. Before their departure, the Lanaudière interns had the chance to welcome students from ITS to the CEGEP who came to complete an internship in specialized education in the city of Joliette, in different partner environments.

At the Assumption

Following her visit to Joliette, Valérie Dufour went a few days later to L’Assomption, where she met Isabelle Gervais and Geneviève Drolet, teachers and coordinators of the Childhood Education Techniques program, Pascale Dupaul , deputy director of the programs and educational development department as well as Ms. Jessika Vigneault, deputy director of international development.

Since the French institute offers similar training, the objective was to discuss the respective programs and evaluate the possibilities for collaborations specific to the field of childhood education. Tours of the facilities as well as the Cégep’s La Cabotine early childhood center also took place.
