Deputy chairman of the council Toomas Väinaste confirmed that a new power alliance is being formed in the municipality, consisting of representatives from EKRE, Isamaa and the Central Party, who intend to nominate the son of a former Riigikogu member, Edgar Savisaare, as the candidate for mayor Erki Savisaare.
“The candidate for mayor is not me, as they thought, but Erki Savisaar,” said Väinaste. “At one time, his father got wind of the Vinni electoral district, and he communicated a lot with the Vinni municipality later,” added Väinaste.
The chairman of the Vinni municipal council Aili Taal announced at the council meeting on Thursday before the agenda was approved that he would resign from his position due to the offense committed by the deputy chairman Toomas Vänaste and left the meeting. The mayor of the municipality, Rauno Võrno, also stepped back, against whom there was a plan to express no confidence in the session.
