The popular actor Oldřich Kaiser likes and often enjoys the village comfort at the cottage. The 68-year-old actor uses not only his cottage to relax, but also the cottage of his former partner Nadi Konvalinková. He also uses his escape outside the city to fight his demons in peace. For actors, after a heart attack, rest is more important than ever.
Kaiser’s holiday resort is located in the small village of Hlavice in Liberec. He came to the dream cottage quite by accident. He became a partial owner in 2002, when he inherited part of the property. Five years later, he became the rightful owner, thanks to a donation agreement from 2007.
Free cottage
The star actor’s cottage looks like a classic log cabin, reminiscent of a fairytale cottage. There are also massive wooden beams. “It is a normal clay smear that was used between the beams and may have been pigmented in some way. It was often painted with lime. Sometimes even the timbers were painted white,” Petr Freiwillig, who works as an expert at the National Heritage Institute in Liberec, told Rytmus života about the old timbers.
Over time, however, the slats of greenery grow. Another novelty is the painted blue jointing. Kaiser could afford this intervention only because his cottage does not fall into the heritage area. Otherwise, the actor would be in serious trouble and could receive a hefty fine.

Freiwillig is not at all happy about the blue elements on the actor’s cottage. “Fortunately, it’s not something that can’t be changed or fixed. It is not a problem to paint it in another color. Historically, erasures were often renewed. Once in a while, when it broke, they were done again,” the expert revealed his opinion. “If the blue wasn’t in that shade, it would have been used normally. It’s called a smurf and it’s more like a pale blue. A shade could have been used for the portals or lining around the windows, but this blue really didn’t work,” added the expert on historic buildings in conclusion.
