United Nations: UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres reiterated his call for a ceasefire as Israel’s attacks on Gaza continue to intensify. Through X, Guterres called for everyone to be responsible and that history will judge us all.
“I reiterate my call for a ceasefire in West Asia. All hostages must be released unconditionally. There should be no obstruction in the delivery of life saving materials. Everyone must take responsibility. This is the moment of truth. “History will judge us all,” UN Secretary General Xil said.
Meanwhile, Israel has expanded its offensive into a ground war in Gaza. Israel’s military said it carried out 150 attacks targeting tunnels in 24 hours. Israel also claimed to have killed Asim Abu Raqaba, the commander who coordinated Hamas’ air operations.
Israel’s moves are in complete rejection of calls for a ceasefire. They do not even consider the word ceasefire. The Israeli government has said it will not rest until it achieves its goal of eliminating Hamas completely.
The UN General Assembly passed a resolution calling for a ceasefire. 120 countries voted in favor and 14 countries opposed. India abstained from voting.
Communications with Gaza have been completely disrupted as Israel has intensified its offensive. The Palestinian service provider Paltel has announced that communication systems have been damaged by the Israeli bombardment that continued on Friday. Volunteer organizations and media outlets said they were unable to contact their representatives in Gaza.
