It’s been a whole year since Elon Musk bought “X” (“Twitter”) for $44 billion and ushered in an era of great change for the microblogging platform. These changes did not always come to everyone’s heart, so during this time the number of users of competing apps such as “Mastodon” and “Threads” increased rapidly. So right now “X” is starting to offer its “Premium” users the next new feature – audio and video calls.
It has been stated that a new “Enable audio and video calling” option will gradually appear in the message settings section of the app. Once done, the user will be able to select profiles to make audio or video calls with: their contacts; to people followed on the “X” platform; only for verified users or all three.
The idea of audio and video calls “X” has been around for some time. The company’s CEO, Linda Jacarino, previously informed that the feature will come to users in August. Meanwhile, Musk clarified that it is currently possible to use the “early version” of this function. For now, this feature will only be available to Premium users.
