40 artists from 8 countries span artificial intelligence, video art and painting art…inviting “Leonardo Da Vinci” to the 21st century
City Express News On October 28, “Proposal to Leonardo da Vinci – Shanghai Science and Technology Art Exhibition and the 7th International Cross-Media Art Festival” will open at the Zhangjiang Science Hall in Shanghai. During the subsequent 16-day exhibition period (October 29th to November 13th), the School of Intermedia Art at the China Academy of Art will drive a new open interface and gather the creative energy of an era through artistic creation, academic forums and performance projects, inviting ” Leonardo da Vinci” came to the 21st century to jointly think about the propositions of the human era behind today’s art and technology.
The entire exhibition includes five major performance units and two major international academic forums.
The five performance units are “Perspective or World View: Landscape as Methodology” experimental art unit, “Programmer and Violin” open media unit, “I Sing the Electric Body: Where is the Soul?” media performance unit, “The Realm of Heaven and Man” v3.0″ international art invitation unit and “Anjiari” painting unit. The “Programmer and Violin” unit, A Coder and Violin, is a concept formed by rearranging the letters contained in Leonardo da Vinci’s name.
The “New Renaissance Man” represented by Leonardo da Vinci has been the educational goal of the Open Media Department of the China Academy of Art since its establishment in 2010. This exhibition includes 40 artists from 8 countries, all representatives of programmers and artists, including Italy’s Paolo Ziglio (Gold Medal at the Linz Electronic Arts Award), Cuba’s Ivan Arbori (Lumen Gold Award this year), South Korea’s Protoroom, etc.
The exhibition works span artificial intelligence (AI) art, virtual reality (VR)/augmented reality (AR)/mixed reality (MR) art, generative art, ecological art, science fiction art, video art and painting art and other creative types, covering large-scale Paintings, spatial imaging installations, cross-media masterpieces, live performances, game interactive systems and real-time programming films and other media forms, from China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Denmark, the Netherlands, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Cuba Artists from 13 countries including China, Germany, and Russia jointly presented the exhibition.
The two major international academic forums are the main exhibition forum “Panel 21: The New Six Arts – Renaissance Man in the 21st Century” and the 8th Annual Network Society Conference “‘Counter Culture’? All the (Un)Possibilities of Resetting Technology” .
In addition, “AIathon: Art/Artificial Intelligence Hackathon” and the live performance “‘Sonar Media Art Festival’ 20th Anniversary” will send signals across time and space in more diverse forms, summoning Leonardo da Vinci partners with worldviews to engage in dialogue, speculation and co-construction. As an important part of the 95th anniversary of the China Academy of Art, “Drink water from the source and walk with greatness”.
