Al-Marsad newspaper: The New York Times said that Saudi officials warned the United States that a possible Israeli ground operation in the Gaza Strip would lead to “catastrophic consequences” for the Middle East.
The newspaper quoted a Saudi official and other informed sources as saying that senior Saudi officials conveyed “strong warnings” to American officials in several consultations, warning that a ground operation “would turn into a disaster for the entire region.”
An American administration official said that it was clear that Saudi Arabia did not want an Israeli incursion into Gaza, and that the Saudis also conveyed their warnings to American lawmakers.
