VSV Narrowly Defeats Black Wings Linz 3-2 in 16th Round of win2day ICE Hockey League

VSV narrowly won 3-2 against Black Wings Linz in the 16th round of the win2day ICE Hockey League.

While the Adler achieved their sixth win from the last seven games, the Stahlstadters failed to score for the first time in eleven games in a row.

The home team started the game strongly and took command right from the start. The guests from Linz can celebrate for the first time in the fifth minute. With a bit of luck, the disc lands at Würschl, who hits it ice-cold from the right hash marks.

The answer from Villacher took until the second third. Sabolic scores the equalizer with a powerful shot from the blue line (27th).

Linz’s goal comes too late

The Eagles took the momentum with them and were able to completely turn the game around just a few minutes later. Hancock receives a nice pass from Hughes in the power play and scores with a one-timer to give VSV the lead for the first time (30th/PP). With this 2-1 lead we go into the second third break.

In the final section, the Eagles defended very consistently and didn’t allow much in their own zone. After a Linzer turnover, Lanzinger made the preliminary decision with a placed wrist shot into the right corner of the cross (53′).

Linz threw everything forward again in the final phase, but the goal came too late. Lebler’s goal 28 seconds before the end made the final score 2:3.

This means that VSV wins the duel between the two table neighbors and moves within one point of leaders Salzburg with 32 points. Linz slipped to fifth place with 28 points.
