Apotheka Pharmacy Chain Sees 8.9% Increase in Turnover, Despite Decreased Profit: Annual Report Analysis

The owner of the “Apotheka” pharmacy chain, SIA “Apotheka”, in the last financial year, which lasted from May 1, 2022 to April 30 of this year, worked with a turnover of EUR 68.578 million, which is 8.9% more than the year before, while the company’s profit decreased by 2.2 times and was 1.112 million euros, according to “Firmas.lv” information.

The management report of the company’s annual report states that the relevant financial results were achieved thanks to loyalty programs, branding, effective day-to-day management of the company, employee training and e-commerce operations.

Last year, “Apotheka” operated in 104 pharmacies, five pharmacy branches, “Apotheka Beauty” and “Apotheka Health and Beauty” stores and two online platforms.

The company’s management indicates that the development of “Apotheka” will continue to focus on the expansion of the sales network, as well as the expansion of strategic activities that contribute to the development of non-medicinal categories.

It has already been reported that in the previous financial year, which lasted from May 1, 2021 to April 30 this year, “Apotheka” worked with a turnover of 62.998 million euros, which is 7.4% more than the year before, while the company’s profit increased 2.3 times and was 2.404 million euros.

“Apotheka” was registered in 2005, and its share capital is 284,704 euros. The sole owner of the company is SIA “Magnum Medical”, which belongs to the Estonian pharmaceutical company “Magnum”. The owner of “Magnum” is the “MM Grupp” holding, whose controlling stake belongs to the Estonian businessman Margus Linname.

Among the companies owned by “MM Grupp” are also the media concern “Postimees Grupp”, the electrical equipment dealer “IM Arvutid”, the group also has a stake in the ultracapacitor manufacturer “Skeleton Technologies Group”, the manager of cinemas, bookstores, catering and entertainment companies “Apollo Group”. The information agency LETA is part of an international media and monitoring group whose shares are held by “MM Grupp”.
