After a long break, singer and songwriter Monta Čubare has reminded herself of herself with a new song “Mūsu Zeme griæskas” – now without a stage name and without the helping shoulder of the “MicRec” publishing house.
In the song “Mūsu Zeme gričas”, Monta, as always, demonstrates the talents of his peculiarly low and deep timbre, touches on another emotional topic in the text, but surprises with impressive earrings and… playing music on the roof in the video.
The video was filmed and edited by Kaspars Kambars. “Thank you to the Ogre School of Music and Art for the hospitality to film on the roof of the building. It is my pleasure to depict a small part of my family’s new hometown – we are proud to call ourselves residents of beautiful Ogre!” so Monta. “Thanks to my colleagues – drummer Kaspars Pļavnieks and bassist Viktors Pruss, who agreed to film in the video together with me and the song’s producer [un ģitāristu] Jāni Čubaru.”
The author about the song: “This is like a cry in the dark for like-minded people. After people who try to live consciously, delve into themselves and the world around us. Who think about who we are, what happens next, and what should be meaningful in life. In which there is a persistent awareness that the Earth rotates, that time is unrepeatable, and that there is something greater than us. I would like these people not to hide and not feel weird just because they think differently than most people – I have felt that way almost all my life. But it shouldn’t be that way.”
The singer’s announcement about her future activities without a stage name, however, raises a smile. Monta Struberga appeared on the horizon of Latvian pop music several years ago, then announced herself as Monta – with all capital letters and at one time also with some kind of funny sign on the letter “o”, which no one took into account, but now informs that Monta’s progress has been point: “I say a big thank you to my fellow travelers who have played an important role in my journey. I put the previous work on the shelf, it remains under the “Monta” project. Well, I’m on a new path. From now on, you will know me as Monta with my married surname Chubare.”
It should be reminded that last year Monta exchanged rings with Jānis Čubars, the guitarist of the group “Otra Puse” and several other projects, and now the two musicians are together not only on stage, but also in life, and are happy parents of their first child together. In May 2022, Monta’s debut album “Planeta Tu” was released, which was produced by Čubar, but now the two have agreed on the creation of a new album.
“I have decided that it is time to develop what has been accumulated and stood in the dowry. I have a lot of existential thoughts to share,” Monta Chubare asserts. “It will most likely not be a quick process – we love to work creatively, which means that songs will definitely come along in the process. In addition, I am at a stage in my life where I want to work especially hard on the details so that my message is readable. It requires patience – both mine and the producer’s.”
