The history of the Champions League is rich in goals. There are records for the fastest in the competition, others which were converted in the twilight of the match. But there are also some who remain in the minds of supporters because of their execution.

10 best goals in UEFA Champions League history
#10. Mauro Bressan. Fiorentina v Barcelona, group stage 1999.
It was the group stage of the 1999/2000 Champions League. Fiorentina hosted FC Barcelona and this match was decisive for the aspirations of both teams. The match started tight in midfield, with sporadic attacks, until Mauro Bressan’s invention.
The Italian sees his teammate starting to fight for the ball. While trying to recover the ball, he found himself at the right height for a long shot. The shot was lodged in the left corner of Ruud Hesp’s goal, which has nothing to do with the Italian’s acrobatic attempt.
It was the first goal of the match in the 14th minute. In the end, the match ended in a goal fest. It all ended with a 3-3 at the Stadio Artemio Franchi in Florence. It was the only chance Mauro Bressan had and he put it in the net.

#9. Ruud Gullit. AC Milan vs Steaua Bucharest, 1989 final.
The final of this edition of the Champions League took place at the Camp Nou in Barcelona. That day, Milan were favorites to win the Orejona in front of nearly 100,000 spectators. The best player of the first half was the Dutchman Ruud Gullit. He scored twice that day.
The second goal was the best of all. Ruud received the ball at the edge of the area, dominated it and shot without letting go to make the score 3-0 in favor of the Italians. The shot was powerful and headed towards the right side of the goal, where the Romanian goalkeeper could not reach it.
It was the Rouge et Noir’s third victory in the UEFA Champions League under the management of Marco Van Basten and the wig-wearing Gullit.

#8th. Lars Ricken. Borussia Dortmund vs Juventus, final 1997
This is the first time that Borussia Dortmund has won the UEFA Champions League. The final was played at the Olympic Stadium in Munich and was won by the Germans thanks to a superb goal from Lars Ricken. The score was 2-1 for the yellow and black, but Juve wanted to take the lead in the end.
As they launched into the attack, Dortmund in turn launched into a counter-attack. A through ball to Ricken, who ran three-quarters of the way, raised his head and resumed at the same pace. IHe shoots over the goalkeeper to make it 3-1 for Munich.
It was this goal that brought the curtain down on Juve, most of whose players were in the German half.

#7. Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Ajax vs NAC Breda, phase de groupe 2004.
For every team he went through, he left an impressive goal. Zlatan Ibrahimovic set the tone in the 2000s when he played for Ajax. Interestingly, they were drawn against NAC Breda in the group stage, a Dutch Eredivisie club.
That day, the Swede played as he wanted on the pitch. He was very active on the offensive front. He scored a hat-trick, but left a lasting memory. He collected the ball in the final third of the field and launched himself. He managed to get rid of seven defenders on his back, through successive sequences, until he found himself scoring a goal with his left foot with the only goalkeeper to beat. This is his best goal in the Ajax jersey.
Ibra broke the backs of all the defenders who tried to get in front of him to prevent him from passing. At the time, it was the greatest goal in the history of the competition.

#6. Mario Mandzukic. Juventus vs Real Madrid, final 2017.
Champions League final against Real Madrid. Juve was trailing 0-1 at the start thanks to a goal from Cristiano Ronaldo. The Italians broke free from Spanish pressure and went on the attack with several elements. For more than five minutes, they canceled the Spanish attacks, with ball handling and counterattacks on the flanks of the field.
Leonardo Bonucci passed to Alex Sandro on the left, who chested the ball to Gonzalo Higuaín. Pipa brought in the Croatian Mario Mandzukic, who with a Karate gesture beat Kaylor Navas.
The equalizer is encouraging for Juventus. The way she arrived was a big blow for Casa Blanca, but they eventually rose from the pressure and won the match 1-4 in Cardiff.

#5. Gareth Bale. Real Madrid vs Liverpool, 2018 final
The Welshman did not start the final against Liverpool, where the match was quite close at the start. #4. Dejan Stankovic. Inter Milan vs Schalke, quarter finals 2011.
The quarter-final first leg between Inter Milan and Schalke 04 has kicked off. Barely a minute has passed and Inter are already leading on the scoreboard thanks to a stunning goal from Dejan Stanković from midfield.
German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer comes out of the area to head the ball and the rebound is left on the central bomb. Stanković saw the goal on his own and hit the ball into the Schalke net; just 26 seconds into the match.
Despite the good score at the start of the match, the Italians did not hold the advantage and lost 2-5.
#3. Zinedine Zidane. Real Madrid v Bayer Leverkusen, 2002 final.
One of the most famous goals in UEFA Champions League history was scored by Zinedine Zidane. He was included in the final of the competition against Bayer Leverkusen to win the ninth Orejona in Real Madrid’s history.
Roberto Carlos goes up the entire left side of the field. The Brazilian sent a cross to the edge of the penalty area, where Zizou was. Zidane lines up to volley and sends the ball directly into the goalkeeper’s right corner. This volley will forever be associated with this title.
Zizou’s goal earned him third place on the list of top 10 goals in Champions League history.

#2. Lionel Messi. Barcelona v Manchester United, 2009 final
A goal which allowed FC Barcelona to win the title against Manchester United. Lionel Messi was one of the best in the world, but he lacked such a match to establish himself as the star of Culés. The Argentinian took advantage of Pep Guardiola’s golden age.
A poor Manchester clearance was left at the feet of Xavi Hernandez. The Spaniard looked up and saw Messi diagonally behind the defenders. The center came out and the Argentinian rushed in. He arrives alone and places a header free of any marking, although a little clumsy, but sends the ball into the goalkeeper’s left corner.
In the process, Messi loses his left boot, but that didn’t stop him from celebrating the 2-0 which sealed the victory at Wembley.

#1. Cristiano Ronaldo. Real Madrid vs Juventus, 2018 quarter-finals.
The Portuguese scored the best goal in the history of the UEFA Champions League. It was in Turin against Juventus, in a match that they dominated but where the lead was short in a match with twists and turns. It was his invention in the air that gave Madrid the freedom to go to Spain with the advantage.
It was in the second half. The Madrilenians had a chance with a Lucas Vásquez shot, but Buffon pushed it away. The rebound went to Dani Carvajal and the Spaniard crossed for Cristiano Ronaldo. The ball was long and the Portuguese, close to the penalty spot, rose to regain the ball and scored with a perfect bicycle kick to make the score 2×0.
After the execution, Juventus fans applauded him and CR7 himself thanked everyone present. This is one of the reasons why he left Spain for Italian football. This is how he became the first on the list of the 10 best goals in the history of the Champions League.
