Al Jazeera reports on Friday evening that many parts of the Gaza Strip have lost the ability to communicate with the outside world, and that the channel only has sporadic contact with its correspondents.

At the same time, NetBlocks reports a collapse in the network connection in the Gaza Strip.

The AFP news agency’s live images show intense Israeli airstrikes against northern parts of the Gaza Strip. According to Al Jazeera, the ongoing airstrikes are unprecedented. Israel’s IDF says it is carrying out continuous strikes against Hamas targets in the besieged Palestinian enclave.

At the same time, there are reports of Palestinian rocket attacks against Israel.

The UN chief warns

UN Secretary-General António Guterres will make a new appeal on Friday evening to ensure urgent emergency aid for the war-affected population in the Gaza Strip.

He asks that the monitoring of deliveries be adjusted, so that more trucks can come in without delays.

– The humanitarian system in Gaza faces a complete collapse with unimaginable consequences for more than two million civilians, says Guterres in a statement, reproduced by Reuters.

The Secretary-General has also called for a humanitarian ceasefire to ensure emergency aid for the Gaza Strip’s residents.
