United States (US) President Joe Biden doubts the death toll released by Hamas in Gaza as a result of the Israeli attack. Hamas responded, the militant group also released the names of the victims and their identities.
Reported by AFP, Friday (27/10/2023), Hamas said that so far 7,028 people have died in Gaza. The death toll has been since the war broke out after the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7. Meanwhile, according to Israel, they said as many as 1,400 people were killed, mostly Israeli civilians.
Hamas on Thursday (26/10) local time made a list of 6,747 names, which was released by its health ministry. Hamas also provided the gender, age and identity card number of each victim. It said that 281 bodies had not been identified.
Hamas’ Ministry of Health said in a statement that the United States “brazenly doubts the veracity of the announced casualty numbers”.
“We have decided to announce the details of these names to the world so that the truth about the genocide committed by the Israeli occupation against our people is known,” the ministry said.
Biden doubts Hamas data on death toll

“I don’t think the Palestinians are telling the truth about how many people have been killed. I believe innocent people have been killed, and this is the price of the war,” he said, quoted by the AFP news agency, Thursday (26/10) .
“But I’m not sure about the numbers used by the Palestinians,” Biden added at a press conference.
