Created 25 years ago, Initiative Montauban Tarn-et-Garonne – that’s its name – helps future entrepreneurs establish and sustain their activity. It offers financial and logistical support. The association pays particular attention to maintaining and developing activity in rural areas.
Initiative Montauban Tarn-et-Garonne (IMTG) is a departmental branch of the national network association Initiative France driven by Guillaume Pepythe former CEO of SNCF.
The association is backed by the business incubator of the Grand Montauban. “It’s a real microsystem that has been created”explain Françoise Puech, president of the association for two years. And to continue: “We rely on retired people with various skills: business managers, accountants, bankers, etc. to help future business leaders get started. »
IMTG participates in the selection of files which will then integrate the Montauban nursery. The association finances zero interest honor loans. Beforehand, the file must be validated by the members of the association Generation Agreement for Employment and Business (EGEE). “In Tarn-et-Garonne, we have a specificity,” she continues. We work with the EGEE which brings together former business leaders. They are the ones who bring their expertise to the files. »
Check all the boxes to become an entrepreneur
IMTG supports project leaders who have already worked on their future activity. Throughout the various meetings, they must present their forecast, their financing plan… Françoise Puech explains:
Our strength is knowledge of the field and experience. For example, if we support a baker, it is important to take into account the increase in energy prices to put together your file and determine your turnover. »
If the file passes this stage, it is then presented in committee to insurers, bankers, etc. “In addition to the figures, we better perceive the charisma of the business leader”, specifies the person concerned. If the lights are green, the loan is granted, it can reach the 15 000 €. Note that this is always backed by a bank loan. And because the association knows the tricks of financing well, it can also help obtain additional regional aid (France Active, Crealia…)
Beyond obtaining the loan, IMTG has set up a personalized support of the business manager. “Being a business manager means being available to your company, so there are a certain number of prerequisites to know”, insists Françoise Puech. And to develop: “Often consumed by running his business, he can forget other important aspects such as the administrative side for example. The idea is therefore to create links, to share experiences. »
The association receives 300 project leaders per year and only finances 70 of them. We sometimes realize that the person is not cut out to become a business manager. We then direct him towards another association which will support him (ADIE, BGE, etc.)”
Montauban, high potential
Support from IMTG is free, membership only costs €65. “Going through this ecosystem. The success rate is around 90%. » The network works with a ten volunteers and actively seeks other skills. You must be able to give half a day of your time per week.
“The area is in full development, particularly with the arrival of the LGV and the new hospital. We also have some nice gems in agricultural innovation in Tarn-et-Garonne”assures the president.
IMTG also works with engineering schools in Toulouse (Haute-Garonne) to encourage future graduates to launch their businesses. “The sooner you come to see us, the more chances you have to succeed in your business”underlines Françoise Puech.
