The Historical Museum of Entre Ríos “Martiniano Leguizamón” hosted a conference on “Jorge Luis Borges: Argentine and Universal” during the afternoon of this Thursday. The activity was organized by Professor Arturo Firpo, who spoke with Elonce.
“Borges was very rejected by Argentines for a long time, probably because he was quite anti-Peronist and that marked him forever. For 20 years Borges’ fame was European and then we Argentines integrated him into our culture. Today he appears as the most important writer in universal literature,” he stated. Furthermore, he added: “On the one hand, he introduced fantastic literature, but also detective literature and reflection on the human being and universal wisdom.”
Finally, he said: “I graduated in literature from the University of Rosario, I earned a doctorate in history in France, then I dedicated myself to Argentine history and entered competitions in the universities of our country. “I prefer to be in this city and not in Europe.” (The eleven)
