Ministry of Health (Ministry of Health) said Indonesia would receive assistance with 2,000 monkey pox vaccines or monkeypox from ASEAN in the near future.

Director General of Disease Prevention and Control at the Ministry of Health, Maxi Rein Rondonuwu, said that the assistance was provided because vaccine availability in the country was limited, namely 1000 doses or for 500 people.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health predicts that cases of monkey pox in Indonesia will reach 3,600 cases in one year.

“There are 2,000 doses that ASEAN will provide for Indonesia,” said Maxi in an online press conference, Thursday (26/10).

“Our count is that we estimate there are 3,600 cases, so we are proposing two doses, we have to prepare a minimum of 6,500,” he continued.

Even so, this assistance is not enough to meet vaccination needs in Indonesia. Maxi said the Ministry of Health still had to look for stocks of monkey pox vaccine.

“If you subtract 2000 from ASEAN, you’re still looking for more. That’s what the Director General of Pharmacy and Health is working on,” said Maxi.

Apart from that, he said, the Ministry of Health also plans to bring in monkey pox vaccine from abroad.
