After his departure from the presidency of the Chamois in August 2020, Karim Fradin ended up bouncing back to Aviron Bayonnais, in a club where he was not necessarily expected. In a twist of fate, the Basques, currently eighth in Group B of National 3, welcome the Niortais (second in National) this Saturday for the sixth round of the Coupe de France.
Why did you choose to take over the presidency of Rowing Bayonnais in November 2022?
Karim Fradin: “It started from a meeting in the summer of 2022 with Lausseni Sangaré, the president of the Aviron bayonnais FC association, through a mutual friend. Lausseni wants to take the club which finished second at the end of the season to a new level. We talked, we shook hands, saying that there was a real project to build here in the Basque Country where we are mainly “marketed” in rugby with our big brother Aviron Bayonnais which plays in the Top 14. But there is also room to develop football, I am quite impressed by the enthusiasm around our discipline. 19% of Real Sociedad subscribers come from the French Basque Country.
