Slovakia and Romania Joint Bid to Host Women’s European Handball Championship 2026

BRATISLAVA – Together with Romania, Slovakia is bidding to organize the Women’s European Handball Championship in 2026.

Arenas are offered for the event in Bratislava, Košice and five other Romanian cities, the final could be played in Cluj. The European Handball Federation informed about it on its official website.

Three applications were submitted by the deadline of October 25. Turkey and the Czech Republic together with Poland are also interested in organizing the championship. The last time Slovakia organized a top handball event was in 2022, when it welcomed the male European elite together with the Hungarians. Turkey and the Czech Republic have not yet organized any handball EC.

The EHF will decide on the host of the event at a meeting on January 27, 2024 in Cologne. The championship with 24 national teams will be held on 3-20 December 2026.
