Scientific Conference on Mitigating Global Warming and Achieving Sustainability

ABU DHABI, 26 October / WAM / Sorbonne University – Abu Dhabi organized a scientific conference entitled “Mitigating the Effects of Global Warming and Opening the Horizons of New Opportunities to Achieve Sustainability,” as part of its preparatory program for the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 28). As part of its “GO GREEN 2023” initiative for the 2023-2024 academic year.

The conference was held in cooperation with the French Research Laboratory from the Sorbonne University in Paris (Laboratoire Médiations), and with the participation of an elite group of officials, experts and researchers from universities inside and outside the country.

Professor Nathalie Marcial Braz, Director of Sorbonne University – Abu Dhabi, expressed her gratitude to all the participants and partners who contributed to the success of the conference.

She said: “The conference represents an important step forward in our collective efforts to raise awareness of the phenomenon of climate change and promote sustainability, by bringing together actors from the public and private sectors to propose key solutions to confront the phenomenon.

For his part, Ali Al Dhaheri, Managing Director and CEO of Abu Dhabi Waste Management Company “Tadweer”, gave a presentation on waste management, and said: “The world is witnessing increasing concern about the generation of waste, which has become a major source of environmental pollution, so its management and recycling today play a fundamental role.” To protect the environment, our vision at Tadweer Company in the coming years revolves around continuing our efforts to build a sustainable waste management system and supporting the transition towards a circular economy at the local and global levels.”

The conference addressed various topics, including “adaptation to climate change,” “advanced technologies and sustainability,” “waste management,” “transition to a low-carbon economy,” and “building resilient cities capable of adaptation.”
