Discovering Aminata’s Transformation: A Closer Look at Her New Full-Length Album

Aminata has also recently released a full-length album, which is an extension of last year’s mini-album “Savvaļas pāše”.

“This album is like an experiment for me, because it was created in collaboration with other artists, I have never written an album in this way before. You can say that it is a view of myself through other people’s eyes. Maybe in this album I allow myself to sing about things that I didn’t think about it before, or I didn’t dare to look at myself like I did now.”

Aminata herself has interesting new themes, although they seem confusing at times. “For example, the song “Aphrodite” is very feminine, soft, flirty. Until now, I wrote songs in emotions that were not very positive. I sang more about the pain I experienced. But this album is like rediscovering myself, I discovered more of the feminine in me half. I like this experiment. At times I was like fighting with myself, is it not polite to sing “my hips hypnotize you”. When I was first shown the lyrics, I said I wouldn’t sing it. But then the other writers of the song convinced me , that it is not a bad thing. And then I began to wonder why it could be a bad thing. I indulged in this experiment.

I feel a change in myself with this album, I like the image of Aphrodite. I resisted singing the words “I bewitched you like Aphrodite” at first, because it seemed that I could not say that I was beautiful. But it turns out that there is nothing wrong with that. Singing this song makes me feel light, makes me feel better. And I hope there are listeners who feel the same way.”
