In addition to the new Apple S9 chipset, one of the main innovations of this year’s Apple Watch generation was the Double Tap function. It is a practical gesture with two fingers, which is used for basic control of the system with one hand, and without having to look at the display. This is useful if you have your hands full (for example, you are walking the dog or carrying a bag with shopping, for example).
By default, the watch detects a double touch of the index finger and thumb on the hand with the Apple Watch on. The apple giant claims that in this way more than six dozen different actions can be performed in watchOS, whether it is snoozing the alarm, scrolling between widgets, receiving a call or, for example, pausing/starting music playback. In addition, the offer will gradually expand to include third-party applications.

If you haven’t downloaded the watchOS 10.1 developer beta, you haven’t been able to use this gesture until today. But that changed with the release of the final version, and Double Tap is finally available to all owners of this year’s Apple Watch. By the way, even on older generations of Apple Watch, a similar gesture can be activated through the Assistive Touch function (more information), although the sensitivity to executing the command is not as good as in the case of the real Double Tap linked to this year’s Apple S9 chipset.
