Garth Crooks Criticizes Luis Díaz’s Antics: Who is Garth Crooks?

In the last few hours, the name of Garth Crooks has resonated with great force in the Liverpool environment due to the strong criticism he made against the Colombian Luis Díaz, whom he accused of doing “antics” on the field of play.

And, with a past in several of the great English football teams, the former footballer in question has an important value in his opinions, which he shares through the renowned British portal ‘BBC’.

Who is Garth Crooks?

Garth Crooks began his professional career at Stoke City in England for the 1975/76 season. There, he only played two games as a professional. However, for the following campaign things would change and he reached 23 games, where he left a balance of six goals, as detailed by ‘Besoccer’ statistics.

The English striker doubled this figure in the 1979/80 season with Stoke City, the same reason why he arrived at Tottenham Hotspur, a team in which he started very well, but over time he ‘faded’.

In his first campaign, Crooks played 44 games and scored 19 times, however, in the second his scoring rate and presence on the field decreased, as he was only in 37 games, scoring 16 goals.

In the third, the attacker played 32 games and celebrated eleven times, a figure that decreased to two for 1984/85, where he was present in only eleven games that confirmed his departure for Manchester United.

However, in the ‘red devils’ he was not up to the ‘level’ and, with two goals in seven duels, the Englishman once again returned to Tottenham.

There, Garth Crooks was reunited with the goal and, scoring thirteen in 28 games, the forward closed his cycle with the London team, making the jump to West Bromwich Albiol and Charlton Athletic, where he ended his career for the 1988/89 season.

In the end, there were 100 goals in 292 games played at club level for the English attacker, who only had brushes with the national team, in the Under-21 category, since he did not play a single game in the senior category.

What did Garth Crooks say about Luis Díaz?

Regarding Liverpool’s 2-0 victory against Everton, for the city classic, the former English footballer highlighted several points in those led by Jurgen Klopp, in addition to criticizing some others, with Luis Díaz as one of the points weak in the team.

“Mohamed Salah was not helped by Luis Díaz, who turned around at least five times for dramatic effect after Young fouled him. The Egyptian is back to his brilliant, altruistic and caring best and has erased the type of antics that now affect Luis Díaz. It is time for Mohamed Salah to talk to the Colombian”, were the words of Garth Crooks.
