If Putin Dies, the War Will Not End: Ukrainian Adviser Mykhailo Podoliak

If Putin dies, the war will not end, but it will hasten Ukraine’s victory. This was said by the adviser to the Ukrainian presidency Mykhailo Podoliak.

“Putin’s death will trigger certain processes in Russia: the elites will start killing each other in the struggle for power,” Podoliak said. His comment was made against the background of information that the Russian president had suffered a cardiac arrest.

The General SVR Telegram channel, whose sources include intelligence officials and people close to the Kremlin, reported that Putin was found lying helpless on the floor in his bedroom. The Kremlin dismissed speculation about the president’s health and said he was healthy and in good shape. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov dismissed suggestions that the president was using lookalikes, calling them an “absurd hoax.”

Mykhailo Podoliak also commented that Russia currently has several main goals related to the war in Ukraine. One of them is to provoke other centers of instability in different regions of the world in order to divert the attention of Western countries from Kiev.

Podolyak also said that Putin necessarily wants the military conflict in Ukraine to freeze and the intensity of the fighting to decrease. Thus, the Russian army will keep the occupied territories and will be able to prepare for the next stages of the war.
