The Rangers didn’t do well in the fall, so they turned to the coaching staff. Philippe Clement was on the bench for the first time when they thrashed Hibernian 4-0 in the Scottish League at the weekend. The 49-year-old Belgian international was a teammate of Brian Priske at FC Bruges. Later, they faced each other as coaches in the Belgian league in the 2021/22 season.
“It is about fifteen years since I left Bruges. However, Philippe and I stayed in touch, we talked even during my return to Belgium,” says 46-year-old Brian Priske about his recent coaching tenure in Antwerp.
“I admire him, he is a true gentleman. I wish him luck, just not in head-to-head matches with us,” smiles the Danish native of Horsens.
“He already proved his coaching qualities in Genk, Bruges and Monaco, from where he was eventually fired. But don’t worry, he will still show up,” believes Priske.
Scottish journalists in Prague are interested in who inspired the successful coach of Sparta, who influenced him the most.
“Good question. I have been a coach for 12 years, the last four as a head coach. I was lucky to have colleagues who helped me. For example, Solbakken in Copenhagen or Thorup in Midtjylland, who now leads Augsburg,” he names his role models.

“Of course, my current colleagues Lars Friis and Christian Clarup are equally important to me. And the players also help us. For me, the mix of a quality roster, great colleagues and an interest in football is essential. That I like to look at it and enjoy it,” adds Priske.
Leten fans are slowly coming to terms with the inconvenience that Krejčí and Haraslín will continue to be missing against Rangers. Both key players did not train on Wednesday morning.
“I wish I could tell you how they are, but I can’t. The following matches are very important for us. I know one thing, we have a number of great players on the roster from which we can choose,” Priske doesn’t want to reveal his cards.
