The Brabant municipality of Etten-Leur will ban parcel points at home from next year. Local residents complained to the municipality about nuisance caused by the parcel points.

With a parcel point at home, people can earn some extra money through companies such as Homerr and ViaTim by accepting parcels for others at home. People in the area can then pick them up at fixed times. As far as we know, Etten-Leur is the first Dutch municipality to ban parcel points at home.

At one of the parcel points in Etten-Leur, such seventy packages removed, writes Broadcasting Brabant. Local residents were bothered by the large number of vans and visitors. They already complained to the municipality in May.

Parcel lockers

Instead of collection points at home, there will be parcel lockers in five locations throughout the municipality. A parcel point at home was already not in accordance with the municipality’s zoning plan, but this was never enforced, the broadcaster writes.

Municipal councilor Clasien de Regt thinks it is “somehow ambivalent” that the parcel points at home are disappearing. “The people who have such a point don’t really do it for the money. There is also a social aspect to it. Unfortunately, that is now disappearing.”
