Pakistan Cricket Board Considers Removing Babar Azam as Captain

Planning to remove Babar Azam from Pakistan team captaincy. Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Zaka Ashraf met with former players. Meanwhile, veteran actors including Wasim Akram have started preparing for Babar.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam gifted his own bat to Afghan opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz after their first ODI defeat against Afghanistan. A gift to commemorate the greatest victory in the history of Afghan cricket. But former players of Pakistan are criticizing Babar’s decision in harsh language. Wasim Akram, Misbah-ul-Haq, Aquib Javed, Shoaib Malik, Shoaib Akhtar etc. have drawn swords against Babar.

Aquib Javed wants Shaheen Afridi to captain ODI Twenty20 team after removing Babar as captain. Misbah-ul-Haq says Babar is a total failure in using bowlers and fielders correctly. Wasim Akram says that there is no fitness test in the Pakistan team for the last one year. After the 2019 World Cup, it was Misbah and Wasim Akram who spearheaded the move to replace Sarfaraz Ahmed as captain and make Babar the captain.

Following the poor performance in the World Cup, Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Zaka Ashraf held a meeting with Chief Selectors Inzamam-ul-Haq, Aquib Javed and Muhammad Yousaf in Lahore. It is suggested that Babar may step down as captain if Pakistan is out of the semi-finals. Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Afridi and Sarfaraz Ahmed are being considered to succeed Babar. Pakistan will tour Australia after the World Cup. The 2024 Twenty20 World Cup and 2025 Champions Trophy will also be seen ahead of the moves.
