Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister, and Head of the Presidential Cabinet, the Cultural and Heritage Festivals and Programs Management Committee in Abu Dhabi, in cooperation with the Emirates Heritage Club, is organizing the “Al Wathba Dates Festival and Auction” from December 13 to 22. Al-Wathba area in Abu Dhabi, as part of the activities of the Sheikh Zayed Heritage Festival.
The festival joins the series of heritage festivals organized by the committee, in cooperation with the Emirates Heritage Club, with the aim of promoting the agricultural wealth in the Emirates, especially palm trees, to enhance the agricultural development process whose foundations were laid by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, and his vision regarding sustainability. Agriculture, especially palm cultivation, date production and marketing, and related industries, as well as supporting projects to enhance food security and preserve heritage to ensure its sustainability.
The festival aims to provide a market and platform specialized in dates to support their cultivation and industry, in addition to encouraging farmers and date producers to market their production through an annual platform in Abu Dhabi during which farmers and producers meet to exchange experiences and provide the finest types of dates to visitors. The festival seeks to attract those interested in and visitors to the Sheikh Zayed Heritage Festival in the Al Wathba area, as a platform specialized in marketing and selling Emirati and international dates and their products.
In addition to preserving the cultural and agricultural heritage in the country, and providing room for the exchange of experiences between farmers from different countries of the world regarding modern agricultural methods, how to care for the palm tree, and introducing the authentic Emirati heritage. The festival witnesses a group of competitions and events that celebrate the date harvesting season, including the date decoration competition, which includes Al-Nukhba, Dabbas, Khalas, Fard, Shishi and Bu Maan dates, in addition to date packaging (without additives, additives), cooking with dates and olive oil, and the date auction, which witnesses bidding on Emirati dates. Luxurious… The festival’s activities also include heritage village activities and an exhibition of participating companies and entities.
