Military Israel continues to attack Gaza, Palestine, in the war against the Hamas group. Most recently, Israel also targeted mosques in Gaza.
The war between Israel and the Hamas group broke out after a sudden Hamas attack killed hundreds of people in Israel on Saturday (7/10/2023). Since then, Israel and Hamas have attacked each other, leaving thousands of people dead.
Gaza health authorities reported that 5,087 people were killed. The majority of victims of Israeli attacks were civilians, of which 2,055 were children and 1,119 were women. Apart from that, Gaza authorities also said that 15,000 people were injured.
Meanwhile, Israeli authorities said that more than 1,400 people, most of whom were civilians, were killed as a result of Hamas attacks on October 7. Israel said Hamas took 222 people hostage after carrying out the surprise attack.
Most recently, military Israel claimed to have attacked more than 400 targets in the Gaza Strip region in the past day. Israel also admitted that several mosques were the targets of their attacks.
Reported Al Jazeera, Tuesday (24/10/2023), Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari accused Hamas of using the mosques as meeting places. He also stated that Israel had attacked Hamas’ “operational headquarters” and killed three Hamas deputy commanders.
There has been no response from Hamas regarding the claim that Israel killed three of its deputy commanders. In his statement, Hagari also mentioned several areas that were the target of Israeli warplane attacks, including Jabalia, which is the location of a Palestinian refugee camp in the Gaza Strip.
The local civil defense unit said at least 30 people, mostly women and children, were killed when the Jabalia refugee camp was bombed. Apart from military attacks, Israel also cut off supplies of water, electricity, fuel and food for the Gaza Strip, where 2.3 million people live.
