Vote: Which is the prettiest “Schampa” in all the land

The state of Upper Austria is adapting its official traditional costume look. After the last adjustment dates back to 2004, a new official traditional suit will be sought from 2024. Thekla Weissengruber, head of the Folklore Collection at Landes-Kultur GmbH, is in charge. Unlike in previous years, when there were exact specifications for the national dress, Weissengruber lets the people choose from seven different suggestions from renowned artists and designers.

The suits can be viewed in the castle museum until April 2nd, and visitors can also vote for their favorite model. On too nachrichten.at can be selected. The proposal from the Upper Austrian Heimatwerk (right) is currently ahead with 34.29 percent of the vote. Close behind at 30.71 percent is the proposed model by Emanuel Contaldo-Burger. The most popular suit will be judged by a jury (Gexi Tostmann, Klaus Landa, Nina Hollein).

The OÖNachrichten offers together with Landes-Kultur GmbH Wednesday, November 8th, 4:30 p.m, an exclusive tour for 20 readers through the exhibition “The Upper Austrian. A suit, rethought” in the castle museum. Thekla Weissengruber leads through the exhibition. Apply using the QR code below. (att)
