First, due to negotiating group structures, it is expected that the region will not be adequately represented, which could impact the identification of its needs and opportunities, including intra-regional collaboration. Secondly, international cooperation, despite being fundamental in the GST, is expected to receive insufficient attention in presentations and discussions. It will be highlighted that the GST will provide an ideal opportunity to develop common messages that support a vision of international cooperation aligned with the Paris goals and, in doing so, is expected to drive an increase in collective ambition in goals and actions. Investment in creating an authentic vision of LAC in the GST process will be seen as essential to strengthening the effectiveness and inclusiveness of global climate solutions, potentially leading to a more successful outcome at COP28. The collaborative project “Building a LAC regional perspective on the Global Balance” and its objective of highlighting needs and opportunities that resonate with civil society, researchers, negotiators and decision makers in the region, through a common interest will be discussed. in the transition towards a fair and low-emissions economy.
