Apple’s Vision Pro Glasses: Patent Reveals Solution to Relieve Neck Fatigue

Gurman said in a recent newsletter column “Power On” that the Vision Pro glasses are too heavy, causing developers to experience significant neck fatigue after wearing them.

According to a list published by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), Apple has obtained a patent for Vision Pro technology that can relieve neck fatigue. The key is not to reduce weight, but to counter-intuitively increase weight and adjust the center of gravity of the device.

It is learned from Apple’s patent that the components of most current eyewear devices are concentrated in the front, exerting downward pressure. Therefore, adding a counterweight on the back of the glasses can move the center of gravity of the entire glasses backward to relieve neck fatigue.

In addition, according to previous reports, the Vision Pro, which is expected to be released next year, is priced at US$3,499 (approximately NT$113,000), which is more than twice as expensive as the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Industry insiders believe that sales of Apple Vision Pro will not be too high.

To this end, it is rumored that Apple is developing a cheap version of Vision Pro, with a pricing range of US$1,500-2,500. Compared with the existing Vision Pro, the cheaper version will cut off the EyeSight function.
